The Bridleways Boardwalk Bridges are a key feature of the Bridleways subdivision in Cambridge, designed to balance functionality, aesthetics, and environmental care. McCaffrey and Cable Consultants Ltd. (MaCC) played a significant role in the project, handling procurement, value engineering, project management, construction supervision, and quality assurance.
The design was led by Dan Crocker of DC Structures Studio in collaboration with MaCC, emphasising contemporary style and environmental integration to the wider development. Construction was carried out by Currie Construction over a fast-tracked three-month construction programme. Under MaCC oversight, Curries were able to meet both budget and schedule requirements while achieving a high standard of quality.
MaCC’s responsibilities included construction monitoring, coordination for crane access, quality control of piles, piers, concrete abutment formwork and reinforcing, and timber elements. The team also managed project close-out, defects remediation, and facilitated the contract closeout.
The Boardwalk Bridges are a key strategic link within Cambridges walking and cycling network. They are designed to offer connectivity, safe access, and scenic routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Bridleways Boardwalks Bridges highlight MaCC’s approach to creating infrastructure that connects communities, encourages active lifestyles, and respects the natural environment.
