Pokeno Community Hub with Library
Pokeno Community Hub with Library
MaCC commenced civil and geotechnical design services in mid-2025 for the Pokeno Community Hub, a new single-storey facility for Waikato District Council at 10 and 16 Market Street, Pokeno.
The project delivers a modern community hub and library, with associated carparking, accessible pathways, and supporting infrastructure for the growing Pokeno community.
MaCC’s role included civil and geotechnical design, design coordination, preparation of procurement documentation, and construction stage supervision services.
Working alongside architectural, structural, architectural, and building services specialists MaCC contributed to an integrated, staged design.
The site presented challenges including flood risk, variable ground conditions, historic fill, and contaminated soil. A key constraint was balancing earthworks with flood storage by utilising the existing site topography, while efficiently accommodating staff and accessible parking within a limited footprint. MaCC developed practical solutions to manage settlement and improve resilience, incorporating earthworks, engineered fill, and stormwater systems such as tanks and swales.
The project delivers a resilient and accessible facility, providing long-term benefits through improved infrastructure and sustainable stormwater management.
