Cambridge West School

The Cambridge West School Civil Works project, led by McCaffrey and Cable Consultants Ltd (MaCC), provided civil engineering design services for a proposed new primary school in Cambridge, Waikato. Commissioned by Form Buildings and Developments Ltd and on behalf of the Ministry of Education, this project covered a 4-hectare greenfield site and included comprehensive earthworks, stormwater management, wastewater systems, water supply, and road infrastructure. MaCC undertook all stages of design from concept to detailed construction drawings.

The project’s scope focused on sustainable site design, minimizing external fill requirements by balancing cuts and fills across the site, and implementing advanced stormwater solutions, including a primary network and rainwater harvesting for irrigation. Wastewater systems were designed to connect seamlessly to the local infrastructure, while a potable water network and fire sprinkler lines ensured optimal water distribution and safety.

Environmental care was embedded in every aspect, with erosion and sediment control measures that met Waikato Regional Council standards, alongside dust and runoff management strategies. This carefully coordinated infrastructure laid a robust foundation for Cambridge West School, supporting a future-ready, sustainable educational facility.
